Hawkins Construction & China State Corporation engaged Hanlon Plumbing for their $300M Park Hyatt luxury hotel project in Auckland’s prestigious Viaduct Harbour precinct.

The scope of Hanlon Plumbing’s work included the roof drainage. However, a conventional drainage system was not viable due to very limited space available under the roof.

Asmuss were approached by Bossley Architects and the hydraulic consultants and we proposed a siphonic roof drainage system as the best possible solution given the space restrictions.

Geberit’s Pluvia siphonic roof drainage allows for a high volume of rainwater to be removed through smaller diameter pipes which are installed with no fall.

Hanlon Plumbing were engaged on a "design and build" basis and worked with our exclusive in-house service and Hawkins Construction to develop a coordinated hydraulic design and Asmuss managed any changes required during construction.

This was a challenging installation requiring close liaison with the client and BIM modelling company to ensure we provided an efficient system that would integrate seamlessly with other services in the ceiling space.

However, the combination of Asmuss’ design service, superior product availability and the support of Geberit, the leading provider in Siphonic roof drainage solutions, ensured the success of this project.

The final system comprises 19 Geberit Pluvia roof outlets capable of draining a flow rate of 122 litres per second.
